Facebook News Feed

Facebook has moved from what looked like a college student’s experiment to become a prominent name on the internet today. There is hardly anyone who has been using the internet for some time that does not know or have not heard of it. In this article, we will walk you through yet another cool feature of this revolutionary platform.

The Facebook News Feed is a Facebook feature that includes status updates, photos, videos, links, app activities, likes and shares from people, pages and groups that you follow on Facebook. The Facebook News Feed is constantly updating to show you per second updates from your friends, pages you like and groups you joined.

Facebook News Feed worthy Posts

To know this, it is important to first understand first why the News Feed feature was added in the first place. The Facebook News Feed feature was added to help you connect better with your friends, groups you joined and pages you are following. It helps to connect with them by keeping you constantly updated with their activities. Now you will understand why the posts that make it to your Facebook News Feed are those from your friends, family, pages you follow and groups you joined. This means that each person’s Facebook News Feed is strictly customized to their interests and friends. You only get to see things that matter to you.

Your Facebook News Feed is influenced by your connections and activities on Facebook. Things like Photos, videos, status updates, are more likely to appear higher up in your News Feed. Though the number of Facebook comments, Facebook likes and reactions it receives could also affect it.

Posts that may likely appear first includes;

  • Posts or comments from friends and family.
  • Someone’s reaction to a post that was shared by a friend.

You can always adjust your settings if you notice that you are missing posts you’d like to see, or seeing posts in your Facebook News Feed that you don’t want to.

News Feed also sometimes enables you to see a story that you have already seen. These stories sometimes will move to the top of your News Feed because many of your friends have liked or commented on it. This enables you to see popular stories and conversations that your friends are involved with the most.

How Facebook News Feed Posts Appear

By default, the Facebook News Feed shows you the most popular stories first. Though you can adjust this as you like. To temporarily view recently added stories;

  • Click the “Home” link at the top of your Facebook account homepage.
  • Hover your mouse cursor over the News Feed tab in the left side menu and select the “Most Recent” option.

This should allow you to view the latest info about your friends and other trends.
